Home Page Buying Maps Books Prints Ephemera
Southern England covers Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and all English counties to the South. Items are grouped together by county and the counties are in alphabetical order.

Please note that many places we think of as being in London were well outside its boundaries in the nineteenth century and so some London views will be found in the UK Southern England section within Essex, Herts, Kent and Surrey. I have included Middlesex within the London classification.

Artists include: FREDERICK CHRISTIAN LEWIS SNR (1779-1856), was an eminent painter, etcher, aquatint and stipple engraver. Lewis transformed numerous natural history paintings into aquatints. His superlative skills as an engraver led to frequent commissions from Royalty, and to his contribution to J. M. W. Turner's Liber Studiorum, a collection of seventy-one etchings with mezzotint, which greatly influenced landscape painting. Apart from the River Dart volume he produced a similar volume on the Exe.

All our prints are Originals. They are NOT modern reproductions or electronic copies. Images are of the item for sale and may exaggerate blemishes and alter colours. I endeavour to mention any damage. The size given is of the sheet overall, unless otherwise stated, which is the image shown including margins.
