Original antique coloured aquatint in the picturesque style. First printed in 1824 as - Forty-eight aquatint colored engravings of landscape scenery, principally views in and near Bath. Print has been trimmed to the plate mark but margins are more than adequate for framing and corner glue marks verso show it has been mounted before. Faint toning in left margin (see image). Two short closed tears at right hand edge would be under a mount.

Large finely coloured lithographic view of the 13th century church. The tower dates from 1490. Perhaps the best of all the Somerset towers.

For John Rutter s Delineations of Somersetshire, 1829. Dr. Whalley was a flamboyant socialite in Bath and had connections with Hannah More, the Mendip philanthropist backed by William Wilberforce.

The Seat of the late Dr. Whalley. Original antique lithograph, pub'd. in lithog'y by J Rutter, Shaftesbury. Image 160 x 95 mm. The title is printed on a separate slip that has been laid over the original title.
